A New Season at CtC
It's Still Good News!
November 1, 2023 sets another marker in CtC’s history.
On that day, CtC officially is no longer part of the United Methodist Church. What does that mean?
First it means that our mission remains the same: We are here to love God and all people so that they may experience God’s life-changing love through faith in Jesus.
That’s our only mission. Everything we do, every activity we plan in every corner of every building must be used for that purpose. Every ministry partner (member), every volunteer, and every staff person has agreed to work together to fulfill that mission. That’s what we do. That will never change.
Our plan to achieve that mission has three tasks:
We call people first to experience God’s love through Jesus. A personal relationship with Jesus gives us a personal friendship with God. Our sins are forgiven. We have peace with God. We experience joy, freedom, and the hope of everlasting life. We live life with purpose instead of wondering “What is the purpose of life?” Because of God’s love for us, we are able to love all people with same love of God. So we commit ourselves to show God’s love to everyone through every word and action.
So that we can fulfill our purpose, God has given each of us personality, passions, skills, and especially Spirit Gifts, which are abilities empowered by God the Holy Spirit. As we follow Jesus, we learn and practice those abilities. Many of us will use those abilities inside the church helping others grow in their faith and knowledge of God. Many of us will also use our abilities outside the church community so that all people may experience God’s love. We all must serve.
Jesus commanded us who follow him to go. We serve by going into our communities, workplaces, and families to give evidence of the love and power of God. We engage others to invite them to believe and follow Jesus alongside us. It's a wonderful journey we walk together.
As CtC turns into a new season, I ask you to recommit yourself to Jesus Christ, our mission and our general strategy to love, serve, and engage. When you do that, your faith will grow and others will come to Christ. Let's celebrate God’s love for all people as we worshiping passionately. Let's use all our abilities to serve God and others while we engage everyone with the good message about Jesus. Our relationship with the United Methodist Church has changed, but our mission and purpose remain the same.
On November 18, 2023, 2PM at the Bear campus, we will gather to discuss our mission. We look forward to strengthening our ministries through our weekend services, our school, senior center, and all our ministries in Bear and Elsmere.
My prayer for us:
Almighty God, we are here because you sent your Son, Jesus, to lead us back to you. We revere and honor you by committing ourselves to trust and obey your teachings. Fill all who are part of CtC with your loving presence so that we may joyfully live as you lead us. We ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
