Ancient Rocks and Old Sins
Jesus Always Gives New
Life
Carolyn and I had a wonderful time after Easter visiting our friends Stephen and Debbie Scholes in England. We saw many, many old and ancient stones that made me reflect with wonder.
At Conwy Castle in Wales, I especially noticed new life bursting out of the ancient rocks. I took this picture to remind me of the new life we have in Christ.
When I remember my past mistakes, big or small, that memory cannot choke out the power of God. By the grace and work of Jesus, I am forgiven. So are you! Ancient rocks can't keep flowers from thriving, and our old sinful ways of life can't keep Jesus from giving us new life. Jesus died on the cross to forgive every sin of every person for all time. Praise God. Now, we need to live in that truth.
The apostle Paul urges us; therefore, “Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.” Colossians 3:10. Pastor Bill and Daniel Carroll gave great messages while I was away about putting off our sinful nature that brings the reality of God’s wrath upon humanity. That old life must be replaced with new life.
This weekend, we’ll continue our series, “Raised to Live,” and we'll explore what it means to “learn to know your Creator and become like him.” I hope you’ll join me and invite a friend who God leads you to bring.
Dear Jesus, you are amazing because you have defeated death and the power of sin in our lives. Too often we don’t live by your power and we fail to experience the new life you give us. Once again, forgive us. Strengthen us. Heal us. Teach us to follow you. Amen.
Please scroll down to see what great things you can do to love, serve, and engage!
