"Mr. Irrelevant" is the player picked last in the NFL Draft. 

Imagine the excitement of young men, having dreamed since they were boys to play in the NFL. They finally get to draft day and think, "This is my shot!" Their families cheer for them to get picked and wait impatiently for the next announcement.

And the next. And the next. Until the last is picked. Would you be disappointed to be last?

This year's Mr. Irrelevant is Desjuan Johnson, now a defensive lineman for the Los Angeles Rams. When asked about being picked last, he replied, "Just getting picked, final pick, first pick, middle pick, ... I'm very blessed. I was blessed that God picked and I'm blessed that I can continue to play the game that I love and I'm going to give it my all up there on the field and at practice."

His attitude is perfect!. 

Many of us know what it's like to be picked last. Speaking from experience, it's not fun, but you get used to it. (Charlie Brown agrees with me.) Desjuan Johnson, was just glad to be chosen. That's important. 

Remember that God has chosen you! And not last. God chose you even before you were born. The apostle Paul announces this: 

"Since God has chosen us to be the holy people he loves...." Let that sink in. You are chosen. You have purpose. Your life has meaning. Therefore, Paul continues, "Clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other's faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others." (Colossians 3:12-13)

Heavenly Father, we are amazed to think that even before we were born you chose us to live here now and forever. Forgive us for our sins that block the life you intend for us. We thank you for your Son, Jesus, through whom we are forgiven. Fill us with your Holy Spirit, cleanse our hearts, minds, souls, and heal our bodies so that we may gladly serve you until all people come to know your never ending love. Amen.
