Get the Ripest Sweet Corn in the Store
(and you don't even have to shuck it!)
Here’s how you can always get the ripest sweet corn.
When sweet corn is mature, ripe and ready to eat, the tip of the ear comes to a short blunt end rather than a long tapered end. You can feel it by sliding your fingers up the ear of corn and feel how it tapers. If the ear suddenly ends, then it's ready to eat. If you feel a gradual taper, put it back and try another ear. (Now the produce manager is going to hate me.) Maybe that didn’t make any sense to you, but next time you’re at the store, compare ears of corn. You’ll soon discover how to pick the best from the bin.
You’re welcome.
I was thinking about Jesus saying, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.” I wondered, How do we know when people are ready to hear about Jesus? Here are a few answers:
When they are stressed.
When they are scared.
When they are in need.
When they are sad.
When they are confused.
When they are discouraged.
When they experience a life-stage transition--a wedding, new job, graduation, birth, death in the family, etc.
You can add to the list. Do you know anyone like that? First, pray for them. Second, pray for the right words or actions to show God’s love. Third, speak and act as the Holy Spirit guides you. You are the worker to see the harvest and offer them Christ.
Let’s pray:
Dear Jesus, sometimes it’s easy to see how you want us to show and tell others of your mercy, love, forgiveness, and purpose. Fill us with your Holy Spirit so that we will share your truth whenever and wherever we see someone ready to experience you. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.n Jesus' name, let it be so. (That means "Amen.")
I'd love to hear how God used you today in small but extraordinary ways. Please email me and tell me.
