What's Good News?
Does Jesus Make Any Difference?
I asked people in a recent text message: “What about Jesus is good news to you?” I got some great answers. Here are some of them.
“Without Jesus I would have no hope and I would have no will to go on... ... With Jesus I know I have the forgiveness for my past and the strength to go on and face each day trying to please him and serve him to the best of my ability!” -W.
“In the mundane and in the extraordinary He gives me the strength to do the tasks He's placed before me.” -C.
“When I thank Him for watching over me, He calms me and smiles and says ‘your welcome.’” -M.
“Jesus gives hope! And we are never alone because He is with us, which changes everything :)” -N.
Those are wonderful, simple statements of the good news that comes through faith in Jesus.
Lydia was a business woman in the ancient Greek town of Phillipi. She worshiped God but didn’t know about Jesus until Paul told her. She immediately believed it and was baptized, along with her whole household. She influenced many people of every social strata with her good news about Jesus. Let's follow her example as the Holy Spirit moves in us.
Let’s pray: Jesus, we trust you to forgive us and to fill us with your Holy Spirit. Move us each day to share your good news with anyone to whom you send us. In your name we pray. Amen.
