“God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.”

Just like God, when you speak, you create. Words have creative power. 

God spoke and created what we know as reality. We were created in the image of God. Therefore, we also create when we speak. Think about it: What you say to others changes their reality. That’s a big idea. Let’s boil it down to something very practical.

The apostle Peter entered the city of Lydda and saw Aeneas who had been paralyzed for eight years. With authority that comes from God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Peter spoke, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you! Get up and roll up your sleeping mat.” Instantly he was healed. When the townspeople saw Aeneas walking, they turned to the Lord.

We have that same authority, so let’s use it. We see people every day who suffer. Let’s boldly call out evil, announce forgiveness of sin through Jesus, and heal all kinds of sickness and disease. That’s what Jesus did. So shall we.



I hope you’ll join us this weekend to worship God who gives us unending mercy, grace, and power for living an eternal life.

Pray this prayer with me: Heavenly Father, Creator of all, you overwhelm us with who you are and who you created us to be. Forgive our ignorance and unwillingness to believe and trust you. We confess our need for you and we dedicate ourselves to the work that Jesus gives to us: to teach your ways, to announce good news that Jesus forgives our sin, and to heal all kinds of sickness and disease. In His name we pray. Amen.
